Only 23 km. from Rimini, is San Marino, the quaintly independent Republic, perched on top of Mount Titan. It is the world's smallest republic and claims to be Europe's oldest existing state. San Marino is proud of the notable Basilica of Santo Marino, towers (14th-16th cent.) built on each of the three peaks of Mt. Titano, the Gothic government house and several art museums. There is a bust of Abraham Lincoln, who accepted honorary citizenship of the republic, in 1861. It is a charming town, with narrow streets opening onto medieval "piazze" (plazas). An ideal place in Italy's racing heart, San Marino is where beautiful cars, great food and stunning cities and towns can provide a lush backdrop to your Italian wedding.
